Dollhouse Shows and Festivals

There are dollhouse shows and festivals held all over the world. They attract collectors, families and children, crafts people and dollhouse vendors. No matter where you live there is sure to be a dollhouse show not very far from you. The shows are great places to network with other dollhouse enthusiasts, get ideas and see lots of miniatures and dollhouses. Some are sponsored by miniature or dollhouse organizations and others are commercial events.

One of the most popular is the Christmas Kensington Dollhouse Festival in London which will be held on November 30th, 2013. The Festival has been held since 1985 and is always a popular event. The same company behind the Christmas Kensington Dollshouse Festival also holds a Christmas Festival and a City of London Dollshouse Festivals in February.

The Christmas Kensington Dollshouse Festival will be held at the Kensington Town Hall on Hornton Street, in London, England opening at 11: AM and closing at 6:00 PM. More than 170 dollhouse and miniature vendors will be displaying their wares at the Festival. In addition to exhibits there will also be workshops to attend which will be taught by members of the International Guild of Miniature Artisans (IGMA). Some of the scheduled classes include doll making, needlework, wood and metal working, and furniture.

Also in November is the Philadelphia Miniaturia which will run this November from the 1st to the 3rd at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Cherry Hill, New Jersey on the border of Philadelphia. The Miniaturia will include a large exhibit with hundreds of vendors, an auction and a plethora of workshops. The workshops to be held in connection with the Miniaturia are as varied as the people who love miniatures and dollhouses. Some of the workshops include Making a Medieval Hunting Lodge Folly, Pottery Practicalities, Elegant Christmas Settings in ¼” Scale, Creating Stained Glass Windows, Mold Making Simplified, Timepieces, Wiring Your Dollhouse, Making a Museum Quality Display Box, Making a 1/144 Scale Get Away Cottage, and Creating A Vintage Halloween Shelf.
