Make Time for Holiday Dollhouse Exhibits

It is that time of year again for holiday dollhouse and miniature exhibits to appear. Make a vow to take the time to check out some local dollhouse exhibitions to get you in the holiday spirit and inspire you get working on that dollhouse. Dollhouse holiday shows are perfect opportunities for a fun family outing. Here are some exhibits happening across the country but check out your local paper for exhibits in your area.

In Warrensburg, New York, the Warrensburg Historical Society is hosting a holiday exhibit of dollhouses and room boxes to be held at the Warrensburg Museum running from December 7th to January 15th. Local residents are participating in the event by submitting their dollhouse entries which will be judged by a museum panel. The Museum is located in the VFW Building at 3754 Main Street in Warrensburg.
The City of Manassas, Virginia is hosting a Holiday Ornament and Dollhouse Exhibit at the Manassas Museum. The free exhibit includes antique ornament displays and antique handcrafted dollhouses. The Glen Curtiss Museum in Hammondsport, New York opened their annual Miniatures and Dollhouse Exhibit on November 16. The event runs through February 17th. Visitors will find more than 100 displays of both dollhouses and miniatures to enjoy including Victorian dollhouses, a bridal box room, a miniature toy shop and miniature boats, trains and ships. In addition, the display includes a Lionel model train layout that has been all decorated for the holidays complete with steam powered train models. Visit the Museum website for more information.

Enjoy the holiday exhibits at the Taft Museum of Art in Cincinnati, Ohio this holiday season. Every year the Museum offers the Antique Christmas exhibit open now through January 5, 2014. The exhibit includes miniatures, dollhouses, dolls, toys, ornaments, Christmas trees – all from an earlier time. Escape into how Christmas was celebrated years ago at this fun exhibit. The exhibition is supported by the Helen G., Henry F. & Louise Tuechter Dornette Foundation, the Fifth Third Bank and the Ellen and George Rieveschl Endowment. If you are in Wisconsin you will want to check out the Fenimore Doll & Toy Museum for their annual Christmas at the Museum exhibit. The exhibit includes dollhouses, dolls, toys and Christmas trees on display. The exhibit opens on November 26th and runs until December 8th.
