If you are planning on moving to a new house, your dollhouse will undoubtedly come with you. In order to make sure it arrives at your new home safely and in one piece, here are some packing tips and techniques that you can use to make the move easier and less stressful.
- Make a list of everything in the dollhouse. This will help you decide how many containers you will need for the furniture and other pieces inside. A list will also be helpful if you have hired movers so you can be sure that
- Pack up everything like a real house. Any furniture in the miniature dollhouse that is not attached should be packed in small boxes or other cases the same way you would back your real home’s furniture. Use bubble wrap, newspapers and other packing materials to ensure its safety.
- If you have items that are attached to the floors or walls in your dollhouse, you can pack those rooms with plastic shopping bags. These provide a soft cushion for the miniature furniture.
- Once your dollhouse is emptied, you can pack it up in a strong, sturdy cardboard box. An appliance box works best because it is large enough to provide your dollhouse with extra room. Pack the surrounding space with Styrofoam and bubble wrap. Also, mark the box sides clearly. This will prevent it from accidentally getting turned upside down.
- If you have chandeliers hanging in your dollhouse, wrap them in newspaper or a plastic bag and then use masking tape to secure it to the ceiling. This will prevent it from swinging around and getting damaged.
- Use those round plastic containers that is used for packaging 35mm film. They’re small and durable to give your dollhouse furniture added protection.
- You can put small, fragile pieces in a Ziploc bag. Blow into the bag to fill it with air before sealing it. This helps to give the piece an added cushion to prevent damage.
