Laying Out a Dollhouse Tile Floor

A tile floor in your kitchen or another room in your miniature dollhouse can be an added touch that will make your project unique. While wood floors and carpet are ideal for most rooms, tile floors add a sense of d‚cor to a room. Here are some tips to installing a tile floor to one of the rooms in your miniature dollhouse.

You want your tile floor to appear symmetrical so it looks like it was done by a professional. If you have a half tile along one side of the floor’s border, you should have the same thing on the opposing side.

  1. Start at the exact center of the floor. Measure carefully to find the midpoint of the floor. This will be the spot where you will place the first tile.
  2. Place the first tile at the center of the floor. Eyeball it to make sure you measured properly and it appears centered. Place other tiles around the center tile in the pattern that you want to create.
  3. Don’t apply glue yet. When you have finished placing the tiles, you can make sure it looks right. If you’d like, you can even play around with the tile design and create something unique.
  4. Once you have decided on the design, take up the center tile and apply glue to it. Press it firmly back into place. Then, do the same thing with the surrounding tiles. If you leave them in place, you can be sure to keep your desired design without messing it up.
  5. Once you have laid all of the tiles into place with glue, you can set back and allow it to dry for 24 hours.

Tile designs are great for creating pictures or designs. Black and white squares, for instance, give a checkerboard effect on the floor. Whatever your preferences and style of d‚cor, you are sure to find a miniature version to meet your needs.
