Step #3
Put glue on the underside of the straw working about 1 inch at a time, join to the proceeding row. You will need to overlap slightly, complete 3 rounds. Cut the end with a diagonal cut on inside edge of straw.

Step #4

Starting where you left off you will need to glue another piece of straw to form the side of the crown. Follow the same as in step 3, gluing the underside and overlap slightly. Put aside a let dry.

Tip: Try using a glue syringe

Step #5

Make a diagonal cut on the end of the straw and gather up about 12”. Do this by pushing the straw back together. Start the brim of the hat with a circle making sure the first row will fit over the dowel and will be the same size to glue to the crown. Work by applying the glue a little ahead on the underside to join the straw. You may need to adjust the gathers so the rounds lie flat. Let dry.

Step #6

Now take the brim and glue to the crown of the hat. Glue around the bottom edge of the crown. Pull the brim down over the crown to meet the glue. Make sure the diagonal cuts on the brim and crown match.

Trim the hat with the ribbon around the bottom of the crown where it joins to the brim. Cut leaving streamers and place the rose on the back where the ribbon meets.
