Siding can give your dollhouse a finished look as well as more detail that others will notice. You can find siding for your dollhouse that will fit the particular d‚cor or you can paint it to your specifications.
Below are some tips and techniques for applying siding to your finished dollhouse.
- Start at the bottom of the wall and work your way up to the top.
- Apply a strong adhesive to the flat side of the siding on each end. Between the two ends, apply more adhesive in a zigzag formation for best results.
- Press the siding against the house firmly.
- Remove the siding and press it against the house again. This is called ?burping the siding? and it helps to get any air bubbles. You can also use a wallpaper press to smooth out the bumps along the siding.
- Add some beads of adhesive to the top edge of the piece of siding that you just put into place. This will help hold the bottom of the next piece securely.
- Place the next piece of siding above the piece that you just applied. Press it into place in much the same way you pressed the previous piece of siding into place.
- Remember to “burp the siding” for each piece that you apply to the dollhouse.
- Don’t forget to wipe off any remaining adhesive that appears on the outside of the siding.
Sit back and enjoy the stylish look of your finished miniature dollhouse.
