Carrie along with her mother, and her sisters Ettie, and Florine Stettheimer were known for their famous salons held in their home for artists and writers that included Man Ray, Marcel Duchamp, and Carl Van Vechten. A Silent Movie Star’s Legacy: the Fairy Dollhouse

Colleen Moore who was born Kathleen Morrison, on August 19, 1899 in Port Huron, Michigan, went on to become a legend of the silent screen. From her earliest years Colleen had two loves: dollhouses and the movies. By the age of 15, Colleen had undergone a screen test with D.W. Griffith, a film director and she was on her way. She went on to play the heroine in a variety of Hollywood Western silent movies and later talking pictures.

A Nostalgic Trip Back in Time

Located on the campus of the University of Missouri at Kansas City, the Toy & Miniature Museum of Kansas City offers a unique opportunity to travel back in time in miniature. The thirty eight room building is home to the largest collection of miniatures and toys in the Midwestern United States. When Architects Used Dollhouses to Study Environmental Factors

In an effort to stimulate interest in ‘green homes” or homes that were environmentally friendly, several organizations created the Green Dollhouse Project. This project was a collaboration of different associations and government organizations including the Coyote Point Museum, Eco Design Resources, Sustainable San Mateo County and RecycleWorks! and others.
