*DIY*: Miniature Open Squares Afghan

Materials Needed:
- Varigated crochet cotton size 30
- Size 10 crochet hook
- Scissors
- Ruler

Assembly Instructions:

Foundation Chain: Chain 50

Foundation Row: (right side) 1 sc into 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc into each ch, turn. (50 sc)

Row 1: Ch 4 (counts as 1 dc, ch1), skip 1 sc, 1 dc into next sc,*ch 1, skip 1 sc, 1 dc into next sc; rep from * to end, turn.

Row 2: Ch 1, 1 sc into first dc, 2 sc into each ch 1 sp along row, ending with 2 sc into ch 1 sp formed by turning ch, turn. (50sc)

Row 3
: Ch 1, 1 sc into each sc, turn.

Repeat rows 1 to 3 until you reach the desired length.

Fasten off yarn.

Approximate size of miniature afghan shown in photo is 4 inches wide by 5 inches long.

Floor Edges … Have You Noticed?

This subject, at first glance, may appear as trivial, but is it ? Please be patient, this is not an easy space to describe - if only I could point!  I can’t think of an occasion when this subject would come up in a real house.

I have lived quite a few years with my doll house before I was even aware of how the front ‘edge’ of the floors appeared -  Looking straight on at the ‘open’ side of the house.  Since my own was hand-crafted, I haven’t consciously compared that specific part to any other house.  Read more …

Create Miniature Artwork for Your Dollhouse

I was about to begin by saying - improvisation is half the fun - but in my reality, it’s much more than half! There is a deep satisfaction in taking bits and pieces, odds and ends and creating something for our doll houses. 

Just recently, I hung a few framed paintings in my real house. I’m using, for the first time, some adhesive hangers. They are easy to install and supposedly just as easy to remove - leaving the plaster unmarked. Time will tell!  Read more …
