Keeping Kids Warm in the Cold

Kids -- they believe they‘re immune to everything. Just ask them, and they’ll tell you they don’t need to wear snow pants or a jacket -- they’re not cold! What are you trying to do, make a baby out of them?

Hmmmm, the bravado of youth -- until, that is, the flu brings them to their knees and they’re begging for your mercy and your help at the great ceramic throne or hugging the blankets of their bed around their shaking bodies. Listening to parents has never been cool, but in the winter, that’s just the point, isn’t it? You don’t WANT your children to be cool; you want them to be WARM.

Kids’ winter clothing is designed to help your youngster brave the frigid temperatures and inclement conditions that will assault their bodies out-of-doors. Today’s winter clothing for kids does not possess the bulky uglies -- today’s jackets look “fantastic.” One of the leading brands in winter clothing for the younger set happens to be “Spyder.”

Spyder sets the example for a company that actually listens to what kids want to wear. Not only do these items of clothing have instant look appeal, but also they are fabricated of the finest materials to ensure a warm and happy kid. Their product line runs from down jackets to GS racing suits (for which they are most famous for their form-fitting athletic wear) to T-necks and sweatshirts and jerseys and hoodies and pants.

Let’s take a peek at some of their products to see how well they are constructed. Their Spyder Kyd’s Training Pant is not only waterproof, but breathable, as well. ThermaWeb 40gm insulation ensures body heat retention and, if the sun breaks through and the air warms up, the lower legs of this pant can be zipped off and… voila… convertible pants into shorts! There are high back suspenders incorporated into the pant as well as inner snow cuffs with gripper elastic, a nice touch. Cuff anchors and scuff guards are all part of the offering and, of course, the suit is fully machine washable. Youngsters love the custom Spyder logos and zipper pulls for easy in-and-out wear.

Spyder jackets, such as the Spyder North Face Denali Thermal Jacket, is another example of fashion made winter practical. Thanks to Spyder’s licensing agreement with North Face, the jacket enfolds the warmest fleece available with the highest warmth to weight ratio in the industry. There is a hem cinchcord and bound cuffs to keep the snow out and integrated into the jacket is abrasion reinforcement. There are two hand pockets and the girls love the fact that this jacket is soft and silky! There is also a matching hat for the Denali Thermal Jacket.

Winter chill requires retention of heat, but kids won’t wear fuddies… they want their clothing to reflect how cool they are in the coolness of winter. And that’s where Spyder spins its fashion web, and does so extremely well!
